It seems to us that reclaimed wood and craft beer are starting to go hand-in-hand. Kind of like peanut butter and jelly, or Beyoncé and Jay Z. While certainly not the first craft brewery that we have worked with, this Other Half Brewery project was just as fun as any other – and we’re loving the fact that it looks a little bit different than our usual aesthetic.
For Other Half, located in Brooklyn, N.Y., we milled approximately 1,000 board feet of S4S (surfaced on 4 sides) material. All of it is American beech barn beams that we sanded and prepped for installation. What makes it a bit different from our usual materials, however, is that there’s no aged or worn-looking patina on the wood. It has an all-natural look to it – proving that reclaimed lumber doesn’t always have to look rustic.
Ultimately, our materials were used to create a bar top, several table tops, bench seating, and a couple of drink rails. Set into the bar top, you’ll even find a little surprise: We filled a knot hole with epoxy and stuck an Other Half emblem in there for a truly personal touch.
